Roy Smith Mwita Rufftone, the country’s most popular gospel musician, has revealed for the first time that he plans to run for the Nairobi senate seat in next year’s general election.
“I am revealing this for the first time in relation to Rufftone’s future. You are looking forward to the upcoming new Nairobi Senator.
I will be vying in 2022, I will not hear the ground, Tell me the ground, “said Rufftone.
With that statement, Rufftone has now joined the growing list of celebrities who have announced their intention to run for various political seats in 2022.
Before entering politics, the musician said he would be performing, touring universities across the country, citing Covid’s impact on the music industry.
The gospel singer said his aim with university visits was to mentor young students and that admission events are free and aimed at promoting peace through the arts.
