The stalemate between the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and state security forces resumed today after the police disputed Wafula Chebukati’s statements regarding the detained foreigners.
The director of criminal investigations, George Kinoti, delivered an 11-page comprehensive statement earlier today outlining the findings of their investigations.
In the long statement, Kinoti disclosed that the Venezuelan national admitted that, contrary to Chebukati’s claims, Abdulahi Abdi Mohamed had invited him to the country to bring in electoral materials.
A DCI statement said, “IT APPEARED UPON PROBING THE SUSPECT THAT MR. CARMAGO DID NOT BEAR ANY LETTER OR DOCUMENTATION INDICATING THAT HE HAD BEEN INVITED BY IEBC AND, AS SUCH, THE MATERIALS IN HIS POSSESSION BELONGED TO ABDULAHI ABDI MOHAMED.”
Kenyans query Abdulahi’s role.
Many people were curious about Abdulahi’s identity and what part he was playing in the smuggling of the materials days before the elections as a result of the investigating agency’s findings.
