More than 400 athletes have confirmed their participation in the Agnes Tirop Cross country classic, which will be held this Saturday at Lobo Village in Eldoret.
According to tournament director Barnaba Korir, international athletes are expected to arrive from Wednesday.
The race will be the 12th and final in the cross country race and the only gold medal in Africa.
“Preparations are complete and we expect more than 400 athletes to participate, the international ones will start arriving on Wednesday,” said Korir.

World champions Hellen obiri and Ruth Chepng’etich will meet face to face in the 10th committee in the final race on Saturday afternoon, with Kenyans battling World Marathon record holder Letesnetbet Gidey and Winfred Yavi Mutile from Bahrain among others.
The men’s race will feature Paul Tanui against Rnonex Kipruto, Daniel Simiu, Cornelius Kangogo, Abel Mutai, Leonard Bett and Edward Zakayo.
Korir has urged Kenyans to turn out in large numbers to cheer on home athletes.
“We want Kenyans to use the opportunity to enter the stadium for free to come in large numbers, there will also be entertainment from artists” added Korir
“We will start the race for the under-18s in the morning before the shoot for the under-20s.
The main race will start at 8.30pm for the men’s 10km race and then we will have a break to give a short seminar on sexual harassment and finally finish the women’s 10 committee race “added Korir
