President Kenyatta, who is the guest of honor at the ceremony, was among the leaders of the country and government invited by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the Independence Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

President Kenyatta is in Dar es Salaam, as part of a two-day official visit to Tanzania.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Kenya’s ambassador to Tanzania Daniel Kazungu, said President Kenyatta would attend the ceremony following an invitation from President Suluhu Hassan in May 2021, when he visited Kenya.

“He has been to Tanzania several times for professional activities, but has not made an official visit to the country. So the official visit will start on Thursday by attending the Tanzania Independence Day celebrations at Uhuru Stadium, ”Kazungu told reporters.

Kenya and Tanzania have enjoyed strong ties since President Suluhu Hassan took over the reins following the death of John Pombe Magufuli in April 2021.
