Uhuru Inaugurates the Kenya Defense Forces’ [KDF] New Mombasa Shipyard

President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived at the Kenya Navy Mtongwe Base, Mombasa, to dispatch Kenya Shipyards Ltd, an organization under the Kenyan Defense Forces.

The President was joined by ODM pioneer, Raila Odinga, and Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, among other senior military officials at the KSL authorizing on Friday, December 17, 2021.
Uhuru continued to examine the new Mombasa Shipyard which is the biggest in Sub Saharan Africa and it is relied upon to save Ksh68 billion for each boat in support at regular intervals.
“Dispatched in May this year by President Kenyatta in Kisumu County, KSL was framed as a component of Govt endeavors to extend the commitment of the blue economy to Kenya’s financial change, and has an expansive command of catalyzing shipbuilding exercises in East Africa,” State House said in an assertion.
This undertaking has been hailed for being moderate permitting Kenya to quit sending boats, boats and ships to the Netherlands for fixes.
It costs the citizens Ksh4 billion for each boat taken to the Netherlands or Spain for overhauling. Kenya has 17 military boats and they go through a full makeover each 10-15 years.
Ships, including unfamiliar ones, will be drawn from water and got at the yard for fixes, a couple of meters from the Mombasa port.

The shipyard is 120 meters in length, 30 meters wide and 20 meters high increases in four primary studios – an electronic fix studio, a marine and general designing studio, a fitting and carpentry studio, a frame and superstructure fix studio.
